What industries are targeted and how many employees? Our solutions are very useful to manufacturing businesses, although some of them can be also useful to distribution businesses as well. There is no limitation about the type of industry, nor is there any limitation about the number of users. 1000+ users is not a problem, with a proper data engine.
Do our company need a computer at each work stations? No. Some companies prefer to enter the production entries on paper and quickly transcript them them in dbPEP for compilation and publishing. But you can certainly use computers at workstations and enter your production entries directly. There is even a timer that you can chose to force your users enter data almost in a real-time manner! If you are connected in network, you can also follow the evolution of each work station on-line.
What technologies do you use? Only proven and compatible platforms. Mostly Microsoft objects-oriented languages and databases (VB/ASP/JET/SQL). Scalability and large support are very important; we don't necessarily use the latest innovation available in the market unless there is a clear value-added advantage.
Do your applications have an integrated back-up process? No. And you can never underestimate enough the importance of back-up. When purchasing our solutions, make sure that somebody is taking care of backing up your data. If you have an IS department, talk to them about it. We recommend at least daily and weekly back-ups (in parallel). Look in each product help file to identify the data files.
Briefly, is there any consideration I should know before installing one of your applications? You have to make sure that; - you have all the installation privileges on the workstation; - you know the requirements; - you understand the end-user license agreement.
For the rest, it is a very straightforward and easy process. It takes only a few minutes.
How come that there is no 'save' option in your applications? There is no need for it. A record is saved automatically as soon as you leave it or close the form. You can force the opération immédiately by pressing [SHIFT]+[ENTER] keys.
